Working collaboratively as part of the Exhibits team, this may include planning layouts for galleries or cases, designing exhibit elements, working with faculty, staff, or students to collect and mount artifacts, creating furniture or touchable items for hands-on activities, coordinating with or overseeing outside contractors, and making sure these projects are completed on time and within budget.
This position will be supervised by the Assistant Director for Exhibits. This is an non-exempt, regular, full-time position.

Who We AreAbout the Museum
The curiosity-inspiring University of Michigan Museum of Natural History (UMMNH) opened in its current location in 2019, and is embedded in an award-winning, state-of-the art Biological Sciences Building (BSB). When we moved from our former home (the Ruthven Building) next door, we made the strategic choice to put the science research and learning taking place in the building on display, and to highlight U-M STEMM (science, technology, engineering, math and medicine) research and learning taking place across the campus.
As a trusted learning community partner, we welcome visitors of all ages and backgrounds and invite them to explore science with us and have their curiosity sparked. With changing and interactive exhibits, a landmark Planetarium & Dome Theater, two public hands-on labs, and all-new programs, UMMNH is an exciting and important STEMM educational resource and a destination for the public and our campus communities.
Marketing, communications and public relations efforts are crucial to the impact of our museum as they lead to our ability to drive attendance, sales, and awareness as well as membership and fundraising materials and initiatives.
Being part of something greater, of serving a larger mission of discovery and care - that's the heart of what drives people to work some way, great or small, every person here helps to advance this world-class institution.
