PURPOSE
The Cornerstone Worship Leader helps assist the Director of Worship Arts to coordinate and fulfill music and creative elements for the worship experiences at all Cornerstone Campuses. Supports, advises, and works with the Director of Worship Arts to collaborate with Pastors and ministry Leadership. Helps facilitate the Worship Arts and Creative Arts teams while maintaining a culture and environment that is safe and accessible for people to both serve and participate in corporate worship.
Supports Cornerstone's mission to “Help people know Jesus and make him known” and “help people take their next step.”
- Support a Cornerstone multi-site worship experience and strategy that represents Cornerstone mission, vision, and values at all campuses.
- Lead Worship Arts teams for services at any of Cornerstone’s campuses. Campus rotation and schedule to be determined by the Director of Worship Arts.
- Prepare and run Worship rehearsals with staff and volunteers, including setting up campus iPad for loops/click tracks in worship set.
- Help maintain a proficient standard of musical quality while balancing volunteer engagement.
- During services help support the overall worship experience and other supporting teams (Pastors, Tech, etc.).
- Maintain a culture that is safe and healthy where people worship and serve out of an overflow.
- Experienced and comfortable leading and directing bands in live venue settings.
- Is a strong vocalist.
- Prefer the ability to lead from guitar or keyboard.
- Strong knowledge of worship music, and current trends.
- Able to determine the ideal keys of songs for yourself, other song leaders, the band, and is accessible for congregation participation.
- Able to coach and lead volunteers maximizing their potential.
- Ensure the development of campus music leaders, vocalists, musicians, and interns.
- Ensure copyright and licensing is being complied with.
- Develop strong working collaboration between the Worship Arts and Tech Arts teams.
- Able to clearly communicate needs to the Tech booth to ensure a smooth live performance experience. Ex. In ears, distortion, improper reverb, signal drop, or other technical issues.
- Helps support the vision of integrating arts and creative elements into worship experiences.
- Contribute to the development and coordination of services and special events utilizing the arts, music, media, drama, video, dance, art, etc. Using the Worship, Communications, Video, and Tech Arts teams as collaborative resources.
- Help support Pastors and Teaching team on how to create and integrate creative and teaching elements into the service and message.
- Collaborate with Communications, Video and Tech teams on projects.
- Help support Ministries in their areas as it applies to Worship.
- Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings
- Participate in events & represent Cornerstone externally as needed.
- Good interpersonal skills and familiarity with church as an organization and place of worship.
- Experience with songwriting, composing music, and creating musical arrangements is a plus.
- Calm under pressure and able to make quick decisions.
- Excellent knowledge of web technologies and live event planning tools like Planning Center.
- A working knowledge of music and live event AV equipment and how it works, and able to do basic troubleshooting.
- Possess a willingness to learn and grow professionally.
- Ability to multi-task, be detail-oriented and flexible.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable building teams and developing talent (staff and volunteers).
- Able to confidentially lead on stage while delegating responsibilities to team members.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of copy right laws and Trademark Regulations
- Ability to work under pressure and meet firm deadlines.
- Self-motivated, diligent, and thinks about the next step and opportunity
