Anatomy and Physiology
Biology
Business Management
Chemistry (general and organic)
Computer Science (C++, Java, Python, etc.)

Math (fundamentals through advanced)

Physics
Spanish and other languages
Statistics

Position Summary:
The purpose of the Part-time Peer Tutor is to serve as a "model student" to WCC students seeking tutoring. Peer tutors assist students as they "learn how to learn" through the development of general academic skills and subjects-specific knowledge development in a variety of tutoring formats. Essential
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Familiarity with course content, study strategies, and content-based knowledge within assigned disciplines.
Facilitate student learning by helping clarify specific course content and promote use of appropriate study strategies for students to complete homework independently.
Work with students (both online and in person) individually, in groups, and/or as a workshop and supplemental instruction tutor.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to vary communication methods to meet students' learning style
Actively participate in the research, development and delivery of student-centered workshops and supplemental academic resources that feature a study skill development approach.
Some familiarity with learning technology including Canvas, Zoom, software applications used within assigned disciplines, and Microsoft Office Suite
Become familiar with all Learning Resource Division resources and accurately direct users to appropriate resources on campus and virtually. Refer students to additional campus resources, such as Disability Services, Academic Advisors, Success Coaches, and the Student Resource Center, as needed.
Act as a representative of the Academic Success Center at various college sponsored activities.
Attend department and division meetings as assigned by supervisor.
Regular attendance on campus is required for this position.
Other duties as assigned.
Hours/
Schedule:
Applicants must have 10 hours of availability within the hours of operation posted below. Hours vary by semester. Peer Tutors generally work 8-15 hours per week, not to exceed 20, depending on need. Peer tutors only work when classes are in session. A limited number of peer tutors work during the summer semester.
Monday-Thursday 9am-8pm, Friday 10am-1pm (Fall, Winter)
Monday-Thursday 10am-6pm (Spring/Summer)
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 in college coursework or good academic standing in one or more areas of need listed above.
Computer proficiency.
Willingness to remain current on course materials, as determined by faculty.
Encourage student success by creating an environment of belonging and high achievement.
