QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

The following is a list of qualifications for the position, any one of which may be waived by the Board in exercising its prerogative to determine qualifications.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
Current, valid Michigan teaching certificate with Elementary Education endorsement required
Current, valid Michigan teaching certificate with Early Childhood (ZA) or Early Childhood Special Education (ZS); preferred
Candidates not holding ZA/ZS endorsement must hold a CDA (Child Development Associate) or be wiling to obtain one within the first 3 years of the assignment
Teaching experience with infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
Experience with preschool children with special needs.
Experience with assessment and evaluation.
Experience writing and implementing IEPs.
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
Infant Mental Health training.
Experience working within inclusive preschool settings
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Evaluate preschool students to determine eligibility for special education or to update current present levels.
Recommend and implement appropriate programs for special education students ages 2.5 - 5 years.
Coordinate teacher caseload.
Collaborate with general education, special education and Early On teams.
Push into inclusive preschool settings (either in the district or in the community) to assist teams in supporting the needs of students with IEPs.
Regular and reliable attendance.
Other duties as assigned.
This is a full time position, requiring regular reliable and predictable attendance on site to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Communicate effectively and present information both in oral and in written form
REASONING ABILITY:
Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Interpret an extensive variety of statistical information and data related to student achievement.
OTHER
SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Interact with the public and other staff as required.
Apply knowledge of current replicated research and techniques related to sensory issues.
