Visual Arts AdjunctPart‑time Regular (Olivet, MI, United States)
The University of Olivet, a liberal arts institution, seeks in‑person Adjunct Instructors in Visual Arts for the Fall 2026 semester and beyond. In particular, instructors with experience in Sculpture and/or teaching foundational visual arts classes are encouraged to apply. Openings are available for studio sculpting and foundational classes. Teaching assignments will vary by semester; most classes meet twice a week for 15 weeks.
Our visual arts program is a studio‑based model emphasizing drawing, realism, disciplined skill development, and broad cultural perspectives. Courses include drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, and graphic design.
Students from underrepresented minorities constitute 26% of the current student body, with almost 20% identifying as African American. Approximately half of the student body is Pell grant eligible. Members of historically underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
Primary Responsibilities- Evaluate and grade students’ class work, assignments, and papers.
- Prepare and deliver instructional materials (syllabi, homework assignments, project instructions) in‑person and via the online learning management system.
- Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
- Compile, administer, and grade assessments.
- Participate in required reporting processes (grades, attendance, etc.).
- Earned Master of Fine Arts (MFA) required.
- A focus in sculpture required for those applying to teach Sculpture.
