Job Summary
The Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning is seeking a professional to mentor students in career development, support connections with alumni and employers, and provide career coaching and professional skill workshops to undergraduate and graduate students. The role reports to the Director of Career and Professional Development and involves creating engaging programming, coordinating events, and acting as a liaison with student groups.
Responsibilities- Provide individualized career coaching to undergraduate/graduate students pursuing internships and full‑time positions, including feedback on application materials, job‑search strategies, and interview techniques.
- Design and facilitate career education events such as workshops, presentations, and panels, and collaborate with student group leaders on student‑led events.
- Assist in preparing communications and managing logistics for two annual career fairs.
- Coordinate alumni networking activities, identify student internship opportunities, and cultivate engagement with alumni.
- Develop an understanding of skill requirements in architecture, urban design, urban planning, and urban technology.
- Create content such as short‑clip videos or other communication methods to convey career topics.
- Manage career technology platforms, track student interactions, and lead job and internship postings.
- Maintain employment data for outcome reports.
- Represent the career team at college‑wide events including admissions, orientation, Homecoming, and Commencement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with advising, program development, or recruiting.
- Proficiency with Google applications, Linked In, and the ability to learn web‑based platforms such as Career Fair Plus , Career Forge, and Handshake.
Salary range: $46,000 – $50,000. Benefits include generous time off, a retirement plan with two‑for‑one matching contributions after the first year, comprehensive health insurance, life insurance, long‑term disability coverage, and flexible spending accounts for healthcare and dependent care expenses.
