Position Title

Assistant Freshman Football Coach

Position Location

Skyline High School

Reporting Relationship

This position reports directly to the Athletic Director.

Employment Type

Non-Contractual (Hourly). Staff hired will become an employee of PCMI (third party administrator). Current contract staff will remain on payroll with AAPS.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledgeable about the rules and fundamental techniques required of the sport.
  • Ability to obtain current CPR, First Aid, or Lifeguard certification when applicable.
  • Ability to work effectively with sport coaching staff, parents, and school staff.
Job Responsibilities
  • Comply with M.H.S.A.A. policies and district policies.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the Athletic Director.
  • Develop a positive self‑image through athletics.
  • Attend clinics and workshops related to the sport.
  • Utilize sound teaching methods to develop skills and techniques.
  • Demonstrate public support and loyalty for coaches.
  • Demonstrate positive team sportsmanship toward opponents and officials.
  • Manage pre‑contest details effectively.
  • Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Language Skills
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals in all units of measure.
Reasoning Ability
  • Apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other

Skills and Abilities
  • Work with parents and children of diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.
  • Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and stand. Occasionally the employee will sit, stand, or run. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the trunk, squat, stoop, kneel, reach above the head, reach forward, and repeat the same hand motion many times. Specific vision requirements include good depth perception and occasionally seeing objects or persons at a distance.

The employee must be able to hear conversation in quiet and noisy environments and identify the source of sound. The employee must be able to communicate directions to the team.

Work Environment

The employee will continuously work inside or outside depending on the sporting event. Occasionally the employee must meet deadlines with severe time constraints and interact with the public and other workers. The employee has direct responsibility for the safety, well-being, and work output of others. The noise level in the environment is usually moderate.
