BAND TEACHER - PART-TIME
Shared Services Position. 2026 - 2027 School Year.
Job DescriptionThe band director is responsible for the continued development of the instrumental music programs at FGR, building upon the already exceptional reputation while pursuing new opportunities to develop students' talents and attract additional students with musical interests.
Responsibilities- Lead and direct the further development of the FGR Band Program, which includes:
- Preparing musicians for performances such as:
- Concerts
- Competitions
- Open Houses
- Sporting Events
- Donor parties
- Elementary & Middle School Engagements
- Auctions
- Event nights
- Summer performances
- Funerals
- Evening practices and performances
- Teach Band class and oversee development of:
- Pep Band
- Pit musicians for musical theatre
- Preparing musicians for performances such as:
- Planning and Preparation: plan in advance daily lesson presentations, maintain lesson plans with logically sequenced objectives based on adopted curriculum, and submit plans per school policies using best practices.
- Instruction: provide a classroom learning situation that adheres to the philosophy of Catholic education and FGR mission.
- Student Control and Discipline: maintain order, attention, and student well‑being in the classroom setting.
- Recording and Reporting: keep daily written records, enter attendance in FGR's online system, meet with parents during scheduled conferences or as needed to report individual progress.
- Co‑Curricular Participation: voluntarily participate in planning for and supervising co‑curricular student activities and functions approved by the school.
- Professional Development: demonstrate continuous growth in the teaching profession.
- Collaborate with instructional leader and members of the Fine/Performing Arts Department.
- Bachelor's Degree in Music Education and JQ Certification or equivalent; M.A. in Music Education, Education, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of two years of high‑school music teaching experience preferred.
- Minimum of two years of high‑school band directing experience preferred.
- Proven ability to manage a classroom of 20+ students.
- Skilled at developing and delivering lesson plans that engage students and lead to high academic achievement.
- Passionate about forming intentional disciples of Jesus Christ.
- Intentionally disciple of Jesus Christ with values, integrity, and ethics consistent with Catholic faith.
- Professional in demeanor.
- Winsome personality, natural ability to connect and inspire action.
- Exceptionally high honesty and integrity.
- Self‑starter with initiative and follow‑through.
- Positive sustained attitude.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
Performance will be evaluated by the Shared Services director in collaboration with the FGR Principal.
