Overview
Washtenaw Community College (WCC) is currently accepting applications for Part-Time Business Instructors specializing in Sports Management. This position is ideal for a knowledgeable and passionate educator with expertise in both traditional sports management and the rapidly growing field of esports. The instructor will deliver high-quality, student-centered instruction while contributing to the development of innovative curriculum that reflects current trends in the sports industry.
Successful candidates will teach primarily on-campus Business (BMG) credit courses for the upcoming Fall 2025 semester.
- Establish and maintain an environment conducive to student learning.
- Prepare for and instruct assigned course(s) using appropriate learning experiences and materials to meet course objectives and program goals.
- Adhere to course syllabus and comply with Assessment of Student Academic Achievement.
- Evaluate student progress through day-to-day evaluation, examinations, and overall observation.
- Grade assignments to promote student growth, return graded work promptly, and assign final grades in accordance with institutional deadlines.
- Support student success through guidance, advising, and assistance as needed.
- Participate in professional activities such as curriculum planning, examination development, textbook selection, and program evaluation/revision.
- Participate in the Student Opinion Questionnaire (SOQ) process.
- Maintain professional knowledge and comply with training requirements.
- Develop instructional materials aligned with industry standards and program learning outcomes; incorporate real-world examples and current market trends.
- Stay informed on current industry trends in both professional sports and esports, including league structures, digital platforms, and revenue models.
- Utilize learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) and relevant software to support student learning and professional environments.
- Collaborate with faculty to create opportunities for experiential learning (simulations, case studies, events, etc.).
- Evaluate student learning through diverse assessments and provide timely feedback.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive classroom environment and mentor students pursuing careers in sports and esports.
- Engage in continuous professional development related to sports business, esports management, teaching methodologies, and instructional technology.
- Utilize technology, including AI-enabled tools, to support teaching and institutional responsibilities in line with ethical and confidentiality requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Schedules vary according to class schedules. The terms of employment are based on college enrollment and class enrollment.
QualificationsMinimum Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Master’s degree in sports management, business administration, entertainment management, or a related field is required. A Bachelor’s degree may be considered with substantial professional experience.
• Two (2) years related work experience.
• Demonstrated ability to use technology relevant to the discipline and faculty role, including the capacity to learn and appropriately utilize emerging AI-supported tools, evaluate AI content, maintain confidentiality, exercise professional and academic judgment, and uphold ethical standards.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Recent, successful post-secondary teaching experience in Business courses.
• Teaching experience in an academic or professional training environment.
Salary/Hourly Rate: $69.66
