Position Description

Part time Communication and or Broadcast Media Arts Instructor to teach Communication credit courses. Needs may become available each semester. Upon successful submission of the application, cover letter, resume and transcripts, candidates will be considered for future part‑time and/or on‑call teaching opportunities on a per‑course basis. Courses may be taught online.

Essential

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain an environment conducive to student learning.
  • Prepare for and instruct assigned courses through the use of appropriate learning experiences and materials that provide the opportunity to meet overall course objectives and program goals.
  • Adhere to course syllabus and comply with the Assessment of Student Academic Achievement.
  • Evaluate student progress through day‑to‑day evaluation, written examinations and overall observation.
  • Grade assignments in a meaningful way to promote continued student growth, return graded assignments to students in a timely manner, and assign final grades for all students, meeting or beating all institutional deadlines for completion.
  • Actively support student success through guidance, advising and assisting individual students as needed.
  • Participate in professional activities, which could include, but are not limited to, curriculum planning, examination development, textbook selection, program evaluation/revision and other professional planning activities.
  • Participate in the Student Opinion Questionnaire (SOQ) process.
  • Maintain levels of professional knowledge and expertise, including compliance training.
  • Utilize technology, including AI‑enabled tools and software where appropriate, to support teaching, learning, student engagement, professional responsibilities, institutional service, and other responsibilities in a manner consistent with academic standards, professional ethics, confidentiality requirements, and compliance with institutional policies and applicable regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Hours and Schedule

Schedules vary according to class schedules. The terms of employment are based on college enrollment and class enrollment.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Earned master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in Communication Studies or master’s degree in a closely related field with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in communication studies (Communication - COM).
  • Earned master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in Communication or a closely related field with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in communication studies (Broadcast Media Arts - BMA). A baccalaureate degree in Communication or a closely related field with a minimum of 3 years production experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology relevant to the discipline and faculty role, including the capacity to learn and appropriately utilize emerging AI‑supported tools. Ability to evaluate the accuracy, reliability, and appropriateness of AI‑generated content; maintain confidentiality where required; exercise professional and academic judgment, and uphold ethical standards in the use of technology for teaching, learning, and service.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Recent, successful post‑secondary teaching experience in Communication or Broadcast Media Arts courses.
  • Online, remote, or virtual teaching experience.
  • QM Teaching Online certified.

Hourly Rate: $69.66
