Position Overview
The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan is hiring for one Assistant Professor position.
Duties include:
- Teach postsecondary courses in the areas of Earth and Environmental Sciences and Global Change Biology
- Provide advising, training, and research mentorship to undergraduate and graduate students. Engage in outreach and service activities as well as governance within the Department, Institute, College, University, and broader scholarly community. Develop a sustained record of publications in peer-reviewed journals. Establish an independent research program relevant to both Earth and Environmental Sciences and Institute for Global Change Biology priorities. Notable areas for potential scholarship include but are not limited to climate change, Great Lakes science, paleo ecology, (bio) geochemistry, geobiology, ocean science, Earth surface hazards, and how Earth’s biological systems respond to and influence environmental change.

Candidates must obtain a Doctorate (Ph.D.) or equivalent in Earth, Environmental, Atmospheric, Ocean, or Ecological sciences, or a closely related area, prior to the start date of the position.
