To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience:

Master's Degree in Education from an accredited institution with emphasis in supervision, administration, curriculum, or related field. Five years of successful teaching and/or counseling experience at the secondary level preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Teaching Certificate with secondary level endorsement or special coursework related to secondary education preferred. Valid Michigan administrative certification (or ability to obtain). Meet the criteria established by North Central Association for principals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Evaluate instructional and non-instructional staff and make appropriate recommendations. Provide assistance to teachers in planning, classroom management, student evaluation and the delivery of the instructional process. Assist in creating a positive school climate that is conducive to teaching and learning.

This is a full-time position, requiring regular reliable, and predictable attendance on site to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Skills:

Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff, parents, students, and administrators. Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Communicate effectively and present information in oral and written form.

Reasoning Ability:

Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of statistical information and data related to student achievement. Understand the needs of and relate to middle school students and possess effective and innovative ideas for working with them.

Skills and Abilities:

Work with parents and children of diverse cultural backgrounds. Develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community. Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
