Position Summary

Faculty facilitate student learning and initiate and participate in efforts to consistently improve the level of student success. As learning facilitators, faculty assess learning outcomes and their own teaching effectiveness (pedagogy). As professionals, faculty adhere to the ethical standards of their profession and maintain licensure and certifications where applicable.

Specific Teaching Assignment

Faculty member will be responsible for teaching classes in Computer Aided Design and Drafting.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Aided Design, Applied Science, Industrial/Technical, Mechanical Engineering or related degree with 30 credit hours in Computer Aided Design & Drafting specialty courses from an accredited institution.
  • Two (2) years work experience in the field of design and/or engineering, directly involved with the application of CAD tools to create products, structures, machines, or tooling.
  • Professional experience with CATIA.
  • Understanding of and commitment to community college teaching, mission and philosophy.
  • Innovative, flexible and positive teaching style and understanding the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Language skills:
    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.
  • Mathematical skills:
    Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to work with probability and statistical inference.
  • Reasoning ability:
    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Technology skills:
    Ability to integrate computer applications into teaching.
  • Other skills and abilities:
    Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and college objectives and the needs and abilities of students; ability to establish and maintain collegial relationships; skill in oral and written communication.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
  • Professional experience with Software packages including Unigraphics, Solid Works, and Auto Cad.
  • Master’s degree in related field.
  • Certification in CADD software packages.
  • College teaching experience.
  • Familiarity with competency-based modularized courseware and instruction.
Physical Requirements /Working Conditions
  • Employee must be able to move about 2/3 of the time and be stationary about 1/3 of the time. Mobile around campus for participant involvement/activities.
  • Must be able to converse with individuals on a regular basis, read, analyze, and interpret their needs via phone, face-to-face, or written documentation.
  • Must utilize all programs on a computer independently and efficiently (Internet, Word, student database).
  • Must present information in instructional setting and respond to questions from groups.
  • Must lift and move objects of 50 pounds.
  • May need to tolerate exposure to certain chemicals; must handle and mix chemicals properly and safely and wear appropriate PPE.
Work Schedule

Part-time faculty are not required to hold regular office hours during the semesters they teach, but must make provisions for student consultations as necessary.

Additional Information

Must be available to teach onsite. Opportunities do not exist to teach online courses only.
