Position: St Edward on the Lake Principal

The St. Edward on the Lake School Mission is to work together with our families and community to create a Christ-centered environment which promotes Catholic faith, academic excellence, and personal development. Our students will have the opportunity to become confident, independent thinkers, and life‑long learners who are responsible to God, to themselves and to society.

Our school has just under 100 students (pre-K through 5th grade), in Lakeport, Michigan in St. Clair. St. Edward on the Lake is a parish school that has been offering a Catholic education since 1950. We pride ourselves on our family atmosphere, emphasis on faith, and high academic standards.

We seek an enthusiastic, caring, and Christ-centered Principal who will continue to lead our school in living out its mission. Leadership of the school includes spiritual, instructional, community, and executive functions.

Qualifications
  • Be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church
  • Hold a minimum of a master’s degree in Educational Leadership or Administration and have five years of successful teaching experience and/or school leadership experience
  • Meet Teacher and Administrator Certification requirements as established by the State of Michigan, including documented continuing education.
  • Catechist certification
  • Protecting God’s Children certification
  • Willingness to attain any above credentials
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking skills
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of finances, including managing annual school budget

Performance Responsibilities
  • In partnership with the St. Edward on the Lake priest, serve as spiritual leader of the school with a commitment to fostering Catholic Culture
  • Serve as a Catholic educational leader and establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and responsibility for behavior
  • Establish, manage, evaluate, and supervise effective and clear procedures for the operation and functioning of the school consistent with the philosophy, mission, values, and goals of the school including instructional programs, professional development, extracurricular activities, discipline, program and personnel evaluation, personnel management, office operations, and emergency procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all laws, civil regulations and policies, MANS Accreditation regulations and all AOD Policies
  • Oversee the development of Curriculum with a focus on integrating Catholic thought and practice throughout the curriculum as well as best practices in instruction
  • Oversee the school budget, finances, and purchasing, in collaboration with the business manager
  • Coordinate and facilitate faculty professional development and faith formation efforts
  • Serve as the instructional leader of the school, guiding, evaluating, and coaching the teaching and support staff members
  • Cooperate with stakeholders for the benefit of the school
  • Establish procedures for evaluation and selection of instructional materials and equipment
  • Establish a professional rapport with staff, faculty, parents, and students, displaying the highest ethical and professional behavior
