Job Overview
Law Library Circulation Desk Assistants are essential members of the Circulation and Resource Sharing team. They help create and maintain a welcoming atmosphere by greeting everyone who enters the Law Library and providing friendly, helpful service to patrons at the desk.
Prerequisites for Eligibility- Resume and cover letter submitted
- Currently enrolled Lewis & Clark College student in good standing or enrolled for Fall 2026
- Availability to work evenings and weekends, including during reading and final exam periods
- Open and close the Law Library
- Greet visitors as they enter and exit the library
- Check materials in and out
- Communicate library policies and procedures to patrons
- Answer general informational questions in‑person and over the telephone
- Refer patron questions to a supervisor or reference librarian as appropriate
- Collect and record patron fines and fees
- Re‑shelve materials and conduct shelf reading
- Assist staff with set up and tear down of library displays
- Scan, copy, and perform other resource sharing activities as needed
- Assist patrons with use of the copier, scanner, microform reader, and online catalog
- Collect and distribute campus mail
- Pick up and deliver interlibrary loan materials to/from Watzek Library on select shifts
- Other duties as assigned
Work hours are variable and dependent on a student’s class schedule. Shifts are available in 3+ hour increments from 7:45a.m. – 10:00p.m. Monday‑Thursday; from 7:45a.m. – 8:00p.m. Friday; from 9:45a.m. – 7:00p.m. Saturday; from 9:45a.m. – 10:00p.m. Sunday during the academic year. Available shifts during Summer Sessions I and II, Interim, Holidays, Reading and Final Exams periods will vary.
Rate of Pay$16.80 per hour
Physical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.
