Reporting Relationship: Building Principal

• Bachelor's Degree in Education.
• Possess a valid, current Michigan secondary teaching certificate.
• Dual endorsement preferred.

• Develop lessons and instructional material to adapt to the curriculum needs of each pupil.
• Evaluate pupil's academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals with clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and related activities, communicating these objectives to students.
• Diagnose learning disabilities of students.
• Conduct parent‑teacher conferences for education-related purposes outside instructional time.
• Supervise classroom and students.
• Other duties may be assigned.

• Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Communicate effectively and present information both orally and in written form.

• Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Interpret an extensive variety of statistical information and data related to student achievement.

• Interact with the public and other staff as required.
• Apply knowledge of current replicated research and techniques related to sensory issues.

The employee is required to sit, talk, and hear continuously. Occasionally the employee may repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times. Attendance at meetings in the evening or at other locations may be required.

The work environment is usually quiet. The employee may encounter normal noise levels typical of a school setting.
