Position: Job Coach

Qualifications:

  • Applicant must have the Illinois State Board of Education
  • Prior experience working with individuals who have disabilities (at the high school or adult services level) is preferred.
  • Experience with data collection and technology is helpful.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate with business partners.
  • Reliable transportation.

Direct Supervision:

  • Professional Staff (Vocational Facilitator)
  • Supervisor of Transition Services
  • Assistant Supervisor of Transition Services

Overview: Responsibilities include training and support of students in a variety of community settings. The Job Coach is a member of the multidisciplinary team and works in partnership with the Vocational Facilitator and Transition Specialist to provide feedback and input regarding the student's skills and abilities. This position serves as a representative of SEDOL in a variety of community-based businesses.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • 1. Assist the Vocational Facilitator in the implementation of the student's IEP goals.
  • 2. Supervise and train students with special needs in developing work skills, maintaining behaviors and understanding interpersonal relationships in a work setting.
  • 3. Collect data, complete time trails and generate an evaluation of individual students on assigned technology. Assist individual students on arrival or departure from the work training site.
  • 4. Work independently and with the educational team to provide and create accommodations based on student need.
  • 5. Maintain excellent relationship with business partners, identifying and expanding work tasks. Advocate for student needs with professional staff and business partners. Understand, review and enforce business policies and safety procedures including emergency drills.
  • 6. Communicate and follow a designated chain of command in regard to transportation, behavior intervention strategies, record keeping and student confidentiality.
  • 7. Independently follows all medical protocols (seizure, shunt, etc.). Follows Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training and responds to medical emergencies as defined in protocols.
  • 8. Know pertinent SEDOL policies, program and work site rules and expectations as provided.
  • 9. Observe confidentiality regarding knowledge of students.
  • 10. Maintain and update substitute handbook and materials when requested.
  • 11. Maintain regular daily attendance and follow absence reporting procedures.
  • 12. Perform other duties necessary to contribute to the overall success of the program.
  • Salary:$21.67 - $28.57 per hour based on education and experience.
