Summary:

Certificates, Licenses & Registrations:
- Possession of current, valid licensing or certification as it applies to this position
- Certification in the appropriate level and subject is required for teachers
- Dual or multiple certifications for teachers is preferred
Education & Experience:
- Applicants must have a bachelor's degree in education
- Ability to communicate in the required language(s) both orally and in writing
- Required valid, current Michigan Teaching Certificate for the appropriate grade level (6-12) and subject area
- Prefer valid, current Michigan Teaching Certificate for the appropriate grade level (6-12) with at least two endorsements
- Demonstrated success working with historically underachieving students and closing achievement gaps
- Be recognized as a collaborative instructional team member
Teach district approved curriculum
Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and times designated
Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students
Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals
Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like, and communicating these objectives to students
Diagnose the learning disabilities of students
Evaluate pupil's academic and social growth; keeping appropriate records and preparing progress reports
Conduct parent-teacher conferences for education related purposes outside the instructional day
Supervise classroom and students
Other duties as assigned
This is a full time position. Regular, reliable and punctual attendance is a requirement of this position.
Language SkillsRead, write, and comprehend basic instructions, short correspondence, and memos in both English and required language(s) for this position
Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff, parents, students, and administrators in both English and required language(s) for this position
Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing in both English and required language(s) for this position
Mathematical SkillsAdd, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals
Compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
Reasoning AbilityApply common sense understanding to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form
Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Other Skills & AbilitiesWork with parents and children of diverse cultural backgrounds
Develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community
Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit. Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs such as boxes of books and AV carts.
The employee is directly responsible for safety, well being, or work output of other people. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as reading handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position required the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with public and staff.
