Job Description & How to Apply Below

The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) at the University of Michigan seeks outstanding scholars for new tenure-track assistant professor faculty positions as part of the Michigan Program for Advancing Cultural Transformation (M-PACT) Program. This hiring program, a federally funded, university-wide faculty initiative, aims to recruit faculty with a demonstrated and ongoing record of driving transformative research, life-changing teaching, and accessible clinical care that will support the health of all, including communities who have been underserved.

By partnering with faculty throughout their careers, M-PACT strengthens the capacity of those who serve as catalysts for change in academic and healthcare environments via their scholarship, teaching, and/or service activities with research interests suitable for funding by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This call is part of a broader university effort to enhance inclusive excellence across the biomedical and health sciences community.

This is a full-time, university year appointment with an anticipated start date of August 25, 2027.

The Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (MCDB) in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts at the University of Michigan welcomes applications from outstanding biological scientists in all areas of cellular/molecular biology in prokaryotes, plants, and animals. Experimental approaches may include (but are not limited to) biochemical, genetic, cellular, and organismal levels. For further information about MCDB research areas and the goals of this faculty search, please visit (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..

Application materials are due Monday, October 12, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. ET (reference letters will be accepted until October 26, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. ET). Please see the M-PACT website for program details, application components, eligibility criteria, and application portal. Applicants for LSA departments can write separate or combined M-PACT statement and service statement. If a combined statement is written, it must be uploaded for both the M-PACT and service statements.

For any questions, please contact MCDB administration at mcdb-search.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or terminal degree conferred by July 1, 2027, must never have had a tenure-track faculty appointment, and must be eligible for Early Stage Investigator Status for NIH grants. Employment will require a successful criminal background check. The University of Michigan is supportive of the needs of dual career couples and is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
