Wellness Interventionist Mt. Morris Middle School Student Support Services

Salary/Compensation: $16.00 per hour (7.5 hours per day)

- Welcome students into the Wellness Room in a calm, respectful, and nonjudgmental manner.
- Provide a safe, structured environment where students can decompress and practice self-regulation.
- Help students identify and use appropriate coping strategies, such as breathing exercises, quiet reflection, sensory tools, or other calming activities.
- Listen and provide emotional support while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Encourage students to develop independence in recognizing their emotions and choosing healthy strategies to manage them.
- Monitor student use of the room and ensure established expectations, time limits, and procedures are followed.
- Help students transition back to class when they are ready to learn.
- Maintain appropriate documentation regarding student visits, when required.
- Communicate relevant concerns to teachers, counselors, administrators, or other designated staff according to school procedures.
- Recognize situations that require additional support and promptly refer concerns involving student safety, significant emotional distress, bullying, or other serious issues to the appropriate school professional.
- Maintain student privacy and confidentiality in accordance with school policies and applicable requirements.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Mt. Morris Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
