HDR is seeking a Senior Municipal Smart Mobility Planning Lead within our Mobility and Operational Technology Services (MOTS) group. This leadership role coordinates with key area operations staff, the MOTS Smart Mobility Lead and other national directors to leverage HDR’s full skill set in connected, automated, electric and shared mobility, smart infrastructure, data analytics, ITS, and traffic management systems.
The focus of this position is to elevate HDR’s MOTS practice through targeted business development, relationship building, and overseeing technical delivery, particularly with respect to Connected and Automated Vehicles as well as Smart Mobility in the municipal market. The successful candidate will provide senior technical support and project management across all MOTS service offerings including connected vehicles, automated vehicles, ITS, micromobility, and related areas, while also supporting in-house staff development and capacity building.
ProgramManagement / Project Leadership Responsibilities
The person will work with the MOTS Smart Mobility Lead to oversee the successful completion of our most complex technology-related projects and will be responsible for:
- Growing HDR’s MOTS-related business within the municipal market, with an early focus on Michigan and Canada.
- Ensuring work is planned, organized, controlled, and evaluated through proactive project management systems.
- Refining processes to increase technical competence, design efficiency, and product quality.
- Serving as HDR’s technical lead for projects that encompass transportation technology described above.
- Supporting rapid growth of MOTS initiatives, including leadership in business development and service delivery.
Represent HDR at conferences through presentations, panel participation, and committee involvement. Cultivate relationships with key clients. Travel to support project delivery and business development activities and serve as the primary relationship manager and business development lead for multiple clients. Travel is expected to be 20–30% of the overall work schedule, with willingness to travel internationally, particularly to Canada, the Middle East, and Australia.
Coordinate, track, and respond to opportunities in the local area and North America. Serve as the primary author or opportunity lead for multiple CAV and Smart Mobility opportunities across North America. Responsible for personal bookings within CAV and Smart Mobility of $1.5M to $2.5M annually. Contribute to the HDR CAV and Smart Mobility portfolio with Net Fees Booked ranging from $1.5M to $4M within three years.
Develop and rapidly grow HDR’s planning work related to innovative technologies with municipal, MPO, and regional clients.
