you our Design Quality Engineer?

This role reports directly to the Design Quality Engineer Lead and is located at our Grayling, MI Atlas Copco–Air Way Systems facility. In this role, you'll take on the crucial task of reviewing and evaluating engineering designs, specifications, and technical documents to ensure they align with established standards and best practices. You'll work closely with engineers to identify and resolve design challenges, offering your guidance and expertise to elevate engineering processes and foster continuous improvement.

How You’ll Make An Impact
  • Review and evaluate mechanical designs, specifications, and technical documents to ensure compliance with established standards and best practices.
  • Ensure that designs meet functional requirements and manufacturing capabilities using key GD&T engineering checking techniques.
  • Provide notations and feedback to team members so necessary corrections are made to designs and reference materials.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to identify design issues and provide guidance and expertise to improve overall engineering processes.
  • Work closely with cross‑functional teams, such as manufacturing and supply chain, to ensure seamless integration of quality into the design process.
  • Investigate design‑related issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions to avoid future occurrences.
  • Maintain accurate records of design reviews, test results, and quality assurance activities for future reference and audits.
To Succeed, You Will Need
  • Minimum of 3 years of GD&T checking experience in mechanical engineering or related field in the automotive or automation machinery industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools – AutoCAD, Inventor, and Solidworks preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high levels of accuracy.
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles, standards, and practices.
  • Excellent documentation, communication and collaboration skills.
