Role Summary
The Production Engineering role provides technical expertise and solutions to support operations at the Allegan, MI manufacturing plant. The role explores innovative solutions to meet business needs while delivering strong customer service, working closely with engineering, quality, and operations teams as well as cross-functional partners to implement changes and resolve issues impacting safety, quality, and efficiency. Responsibilities- Day to Day Operations: review the previous 24 hours of production data on designated work centers, address urgent business needs, perform general troubleshooting, contact vendors, and provide Gemba support; track line efficiency and monitor changes to ensure impact and ROI.
- Lean Six Sigma: coordinate and lead continuous improvement projects aimed at waste reduction and efficiency improvements; align with cross-functional partners on project prioritization; work independently and in teams to develop and implement solutions; apply DMAIC problem-solving approaches.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME): act as technical expert for packaging equipment and related technology; provide training to operations and support groups; apply core engineering principles and solve complex technical problems; ensure compliance with applicable laws and quality requirements.
- Capital Projects: organize data to prepare project scopes, cost estimates, and capital justification requests; support equipment installations and process improvements; support URS, FAT, IQ, OQ, PQ and successful vertical start-up; provide project leadership interfacing with multiple departments, consultants, and contractors.
- Required:
Established understanding of engineering fundamentals, ability to read and understand drawings, flowcharts, and schematics related to system design documentation. - Required:
Demonstrated understanding of lean principles and six sigma processes, with experience in continuous improvement techniques. - Required:
Ability to make sound economic analyses with prudent financial judgment; ability to work toward broad goals and exercise initiative; ability to meet deadlines in a team-oriented environment. - Preferred:
Experience with quality systems in an FDA current GMP regulated environment. - Preferred:
Hands-on knowledge of production operations and associated control systems. - Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering;
Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing or Engineering Management (degree acceptance varies by position). - Note:
