Early Career Geotechnical Engineer – US-MI location:
Ann Arbor, with additional location in Detroit. Job : . Regular full-time, on-site with no remote work.
Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early-Career Geotechnical Engineer in our Ann Arbor or Detroit, MI office. The role involves applying academic knowledge to real-world projects, including site characterization, landfill design and construction, earth retaining structures, deep and soft/weak foundations, dams and water containment structures, forensic investigations and litigation support, geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring, numerical analysis of stability and deformation, and geohazard/earthquake characterization and mitigation.
The position also supports the development of business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct geotechnical field investigations
- Monitor heavy civil construction projects
- Perform and review engineering calculations
- Address earthquake engineering considerations
- Design and permitting for landfills
- Evaluate dams and levees
- Develop construction documents
- Write and review engineering reports
- Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or project sites as needed
- Bachelor's degree in civil and/or environmental engineering (required)
- Advanced degree (preferred)
- At least 2 years of work experience in engineering consulting or equivalent (preferred)
- Prior internship or work experience in engineering consulting (preferred)
- Experience with geotechnical and engineering software such as AutoCAD, Slope/W, and PLAXIS (preferred)
- Regular field work and overnight travel (required)
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing (required)
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and satisfactory driving record for business travel (required)
