Position: Engineer I Labs - Large Systems Testing/Electrical Safety Lab

Job Description

As an Engineer I – Large Systems Testing / Electrical Safety Testing Lab, you'll be responsible for reviewing and interpreting standards and protocols, developing test methods, performing performance testing, and analyzing test data. You'll work with other Engineers to produce and review data and reports for the certification of appliances and machinery and collaborate with laboratory personnel in the design, construction, and operation of test equipment and conduct of testing.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in the review and application of product/material standards and technical requirements to the design, construction, and performance of appliances and machinery.
  • Perform project management responsibilities with other test sites or groups to complete certification projects of appliances and machinery.
  • Review and develop test methods and test equipment to meet technical requirements of standards and protocols.
  • Conduct statistical analysis of test results and prepare technical reports.
  • Provide technical support to clients regarding standard requirements and their application to product designs and performance.
  • Participate in the technical review of standard requirements, test methods, test results and data analysis.
  • Conduct witness testing at manufacturer’s facility, as necessary.
  • Participate in the research, design, and construction of new test equipment.
  • Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of test equipment.
  • Support the relevant stakeholders in the calibration of equipment within the test engineering group.
  • Assure adherence to all quality assurance, safety and health policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, or other equivalent degrees.
  • 1 year of industry experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with high attention to detail, project coordination, organization and tracking capabilities.
  • Experience with conducting tests to standards, writing and reading SOPs, system design, and project management.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with laboratory QA/QC plans, manuals, and procedures.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically to support clients, attend conferences and/or trade shows (~10%).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with three‑phase power, electronics/power switching, PCB design and circuit analysis.
  • Experience in testing electromagnetic compatibility of appliances.
  • Experience in evaluation of functional safety of appliances.
  • Experience with UL, IEC, CSA standards.
  • Proficiency in Cantonese/Mandarin to assist with inter‑company communication related to principal role accountabilities with international team members.
