Civil Engineers (Licensed) – Smith Group, Inc., 201 Depot Street, Floor 2, Ann Arbor, MI
As a licensed professional, a Civil Engineer collaborates with the project team to develop innovative solutions and coordinates the design through all documentation phases of a project. The Civil Engineer provides the full range of services on a small to medium‑sized project or supports a Senior Project Civil Engineer on large, complex projects.
Responsibilities- Work products and project deliverables meet Smith Group standards.
- Ensure on‑time delivery of project objectives and deliverables.
- Determine and develop technical solutions to deliver the design through documentation and detailing while reinforcing the design intent.
- Coordinate with disciplines related to site design to reinforce the design intent.
- Refine and develop design concepts and participate in design critiques.
- Contribute to client and stakeholder presentations.
- Generate graphics and renderings or coordinate graphic development with Entry Level and Civil Designers.
- Prepare all phases of development and documentation packages.
- Assist in graphics and documentation for agency approvals.
- Contribute to the development of project specifications.
- Evaluate and select materials and products.
- Participate in construction administration activities.
- Manage aspects of a project and proactively provide status reports to project leadership.
- Determine level of effort for a given assignment and provide input on scheduling.
- Create graphics for inclusion in marketing proposals, materials and presentations.
- Develop and maintain trusted relationships with clients.
- Assist with proposal and interview preparation and participate in interviews.
- Share knowledge with peers and colleagues to support learning and professional growth.
- Mentor staff.
- Support a team of staff in completing technical documents for projects of complex nature.
- Monitor, train and provide oversight to the work performed by the project team.
- Participate in the recruitment and interviewing process as requested.
- Telecommuting is permitted up to 2 days per week.
- National or regional travel to client sites may be required, less than 10% of work time.
Minimum requirement: a bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent degrees accepted) in civil engineering or a closely related field of study; 5 years of progressive experience in any related occupation working on municipal sector infrastructure projects, including roadway reconstruction and storm, sanitary and water main replacement projects for public sector clients and civil engineering/site work design drawing and specifications for private sector land development projects for institutional, industrial, commercial and residential clients;
and a valid Michigan Professional Engineer License.
Basic annual pay range is one hundred thirteen thousand, two hundred thirty‑five dollars to one hundred thirteen thousand, seven hundred thirty‑five dollars for full‑time employment and standard company benefits.
