Job SummaryIMEG, a large design consulting firm, is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design efforts, manage projects, and provide engineering solutions for the vertical building industry. This role combines technical expertise with project management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- Lead design efforts for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, creating detailed designs, specifications, and calculations.
- Perform site assessments and generate technical reports.
- Interact with clients to understand needs, gather requirements, and communicate technical information.
- Provide in‑process design reviews and conduct quality control to meet IMEG and client standards.
- Mentor and train junior engineers; provide technical assistance on field issues.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Prioritize safety and mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Participate in project interviews and presentations.
- Coordinate, oversee, and manage projects of varying complexity.
- Assist in design scopes, fee calculations, and contract reviews.
- Create project schedules, billings, and financial reports.
- Ensure design follows owner, IMEG, and code requirements.
- Conduct construction site visits and resolve client or construction concerns.
- Train, mentor, and motivate staff; build and maintain client relationships.
- This position is not eligible for sponsorship.
- Advanced proficiency in design techniques, tools, and principles for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Strong analytical skills in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
- Excellent training, mentoring, and leadership abilities.
- Effective quality control and ability to perform final checks.
- Client relationship development and sales skills.
- Excellent communication, both oral and written.
- Team collaboration and attention to detail.
- Adaptability to new challenges.
- Proficiency with MS Office.
- Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in building design consulting (8 preferred).
- Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull.
- Limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises.
