Principal Electronics Engineer

As a Principal Electronics Engineer you will be expected to mentor, guide and lead others in the design of state‑of‑the‑art electronic systems that deliver world‑class performance. You will work and develop alongside a multidisciplinary team of 35 Electronics Engineers.
Your role will span the entire product lifecycle from design requirements capture and analysis through to defining the system architecture and designing, building, testing and verifying that the solution meets the customer’s requirements.
The Principal Electronics Engineer role requires working within the team to optimise the design through trade‑offs, studies, analyses, modelling and simulation to produce a best‑in‑class competitive product.
- Lead in the design of circuit assemblies and systems
- Develop electronic architectures to meet design requirements
- Lead component and sub‑system selection and manage evaluation activities
- Lead the creation of electronic schematics and PCB layout
- Define testing, validation and debug of circuit assemblies
- Support development and integration testing of electronic assemblies
- Creation of electronics specifications, development and verification plans
- Responsible for compliance to regulatory standards
- Contribute to bid and estimating activities
- A relevant Engineering, Scientific or Numerate degree with a deep understanding of electronic circuit design
- Considerable, relevant experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Power Electronics
- Digital Electronics
- Analogue Electronics
- Electronics Architecture
- High Frequency Electronics
- Significant experience with electronics design and simulation tools
- Experience in design of equipment for safety‑critical environments
- Experience of requirements for DFT and DFM
- Solid, relevant experience of analytical and problem‑solving
- Highly effective communicator within a diverse, professional environment
- Self‑motivated, able to lead and take the initiative
- Outstanding team working skills
- Experience of mentoring and coaching others

Security Clearance StatementThis role will require SC Clearance. If it is not currently held, the successful applicant will be required to obtain, achieve and maintain SC Clearance. Applicants must generally have resided in the UK for the last 5 years.
