Responsibilities
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and commissioning of building automation systems, HVAC equipment, and related controls.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex control system malfunctions, and write modifications in multiple system software languages.
  • Provide high levels of customer satisfaction through direct on‑site customer interactions and mentorship of control technicians and service staff.
  • Complete required project and service documentation, including certificates of completion, training forms, punch lists, and as‑built drawings.
  • Assist in designing, configuring, and validating building control systems, including flow diagrams, sequence of operations, network layouts, and electrical schematics.
  • Support sales by preparing technical recommendations, field proposals, and helping with bid proposals.
  • Coordinate with branch, service, and project managers and subcontractors to ensure project delivery and safety compliance.
  • Train customers on system operations, provide manuals and documentation, and offer recommendations for upgrades or replacements.
  • Maintain technical proficiency through self‑study, continuous learning, and completion of required certifications.
How You Will Do It
  • Diagnose and repair complex control system malfunctions using extensive knowledge of electronic and digital controls.
  • Consult with customers using data gathered and site assessments to propose retrofits, upgrades, or enhancements.
  • Manage assigned work with professional and efficient execution to meet time and customer satisfaction targets.
  • Report problems or changes to management immediately and interface with project teams for coordination.
  • Provide sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections, and assist with job layouts and bid proposals.
  • Install and modify software and graphics for customer systems.
  • Promote the sale of add‑on work while adhering to Johnson Controls and customer safety standards.
  • Lead safety instruction and training for control technicians and subcontractors on site.
  • Assist in the loading, commissioning, and validation of all system and network‑level controllers.
Qualifications / Experience
  • Minimum of six (6) years of commercial controls troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry.
  • Vocational school graduate, associate’s degree in a technical field, or two years of experience servicing electronic or mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to install and/or service electronic control systems and HVAC equipment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information to technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems, and other building subsystems.
  • Ability to use programs and software applications relevant to building control system design and maintenance.
  • Willingness to learn, take responsibility, and serve as a dedicated member of the North America Branch team.
Compensation & Benefits

Hourly rate: $29.66 – $40.77, based on education, experience, skills, and market data.

Benefits include: 401(k), medical, dental, vision care (available day one), paid vacation and sick leave (10 days for first year), comprehensive benefits package, and a safety‑first culture.
