Job Summary
University of Michigan Health (UMH) is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Facilities Planning and Development (FPD) team. FPD provides user consultation and support services at numerous stages of project implementation including concept development, planning, budgeting, funding, design, engineering, construction administration, project activation and limited commissioning. ResponsibilitiesPerforms a variety of engineering work in planning and design of the various electrical systems used in healthcare facilities. These systems include power, lighting, and various specialty systems (nurse call, security, data, etc). Coordination, and/or participation in the preparation of estimates, and/or plans, and specifications for several concurrent new building, building renovation, and/or infrastructure upgrade projects. Able to put together a set of Construction Documents (CDs) for execution by turnkey or bid & award construction process.
Such projects may be single-discipline or multi-discipline.
Plan, direct, supervise, coordinate, and participate in the preparation of studies, reports, and budget estimates as part of project work and problem-solving. Advise on health systems' routine capital planning.
Provide leadership, engineering expertise, and participate in the preparation of, maintenance of, and implementation of office and University standards, Master Plans, Design Guidelines, Master Specifications, Preferred Manufacturers Lists, and standard design details.
Required Qualifications- Has acquired a bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge in electrical system design in healthcare facilities or other similar industries, including normal and emergency power, generator systems, UPS's, and lighting distribution.
- Candidate should have excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Familiarity with normally encountered office automation software (Microsoft products, email, etc) and AutoCAD design experience is desired.
- Min 10 years of experience in the design & construction industry, much of which focused on healthcare or other similar industries.
- Maintains a Professional Engineer license with the State of Michigan or has the ability to become registered in 18 months from the date of hire.
