Industrial Wastewater (IWW) Program Lead – Power Practice
HDR is seeking an experienced leader to develop and oversee industrial wastewater (W/WW) treatment solutions for the Power industry. The successful candidate will drive business development, lead technical teams, and manage complex design projects throughout the full project life cycle.
Responsibilities- Lead business development of IWW services for the North American Power Practice, including proposal development, technical presentations, and pursuit interviews.
- Collaborate with other Business Development Teams and act as a subject‑matter expert on strategic projects.
- Provide technical leadership for front‑end oriented projects, including business case studies and DBMs.
- Support client development and act as a senior process engineering advisor.
- Participate in strategic planning and the development of program goals, client pursuits, and talent acquisition.
- Conduct site visits to gather technical data and support construction, commissioning, and close‑out activities.
- Perform or oversee process design sizing, hydraulic calculations, mass balances, and water treatment system conceptual designs.
- Develop design criteria, equipment and procurement specifications, bid evaluations, and technical reports.
- Lead development of process flow diagrams, P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, and installation details.
- Review and evaluate equipment vendor and contractor proposals and submittals.
- Develop and execute QA/QC plans.
- Lead and mentor technical teams of engineers, EITs, designers, and drafters.
- Work directly with project managers and clients to ensure projects meet or exceed client expectations.
- Develop water supply and discharge agreements and permits; coordinate with permitting authorities.
- Provide internal and external training on industrial process W/WW systems.
- Implement and monitor company policies and contribute to process improvement.
- Assist in the selection, training, development, and management of technical personnel.
- Create recommendations for client facility monitoring systems, procedures, lab/chemical/reagent management, and staff training.
- Actively participate in industry conferences and publish at least one technical paper annually.
- Experience with process modeling.
- Existing relationships with industrial Power clients.
- Project engineering and management experience in a consulting or EPC firm.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in industrial water/wastewater treatment for the Power industry.
- Professional or engineering registration and relevant technical experience.
- Demonstrated leadership in development and management of diverse engineering teams.
- Strong collaboration skills with regional directors, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers.
- Commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and HDR core values.
