Senior Project Manager, Transmission Routing & Siting
HDR is looking for an experienced leader to develop buildable solutions for electric transmission routing and siting projects within our expanding Power practice across the North Central Region.

- Develop buildable routing and siting solutions for utilities and developers
- Collaborate with project teams including utility staff, developers, and consultants
- Engage stakeholders such as government agencies, regulators, communities, and landowners
- Prepare testimony, technical documentation, and studies to support defensible line routes and facility sites
- Monitor project scope, schedule, and budget
- Mentor and develop newer staff on client deliverables
- Strengthen relationships with HDR and utility staff
- Apply strategic thinking, networking, client relations, and lead development skills
- Travel as required (10–20%)
- Perform other duties as needed
- Prior experience managing and providing technical leadership on projects, with a desire for broader leadership in larger, more complex projects
- Strong background in routing, siting, and supporting regulatory approvals for electric facilities, with desired expert witness testimony experience
- Ability to perform non‑routine tasks on multiple projects simultaneously; research and write concise technical documents; innovate and complete tasks on time; work independently and as part of a team; and maintain detail orientation, organization, communication, and quality focus
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental planning, environmental science, community planning, engineering, landscape architecture or related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience in linear projects involving land acquisition, routing or environmental planning
- Minimum 8 years experience writing proposals, developing scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for complex environmental projects with multi‑disciplinary teams and multi‑agency efforts focused on siting and routing studies
- Experience preparing applications for state utility regulatory agencies and system operators
- Experience preparing and providing expert witness testimony
- Experience and understanding of permit requirements
- Strong conceptual, organizational, analytical, problem‑solving, and research abilities
- Ability to support multiple complex and time‑sensitive projects effectively
- Efficiency in identifying and resolving issues
- Positive and proactive interaction with design and construction teams
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- 10 years related experience
- Minimum of 5 years project management experience
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, and project management tools
- Strong organizational, project management, and communication (written and verbal) skills

Salary range: $125,000 – $180,000 (aligned with skills, experience, education, and geography). Full‑time regular positions receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, short‑ and long‑term disability, life insurance, employee assistance program, paid time away, parental leave, paid holidays, a retirement savings plan with employer match, employee referral bonus, and tuition reimbursement. Temporary and part‑time roles are eligible for limited benefits.
