Michigan Area Business Class Leader – (185348)
Lead the Michigan Wastewater team, shaping its vision, strategy, and growth while supervising staff, managing projects, and driving business development.
Responsibilities- Build and grow the Michigan Wastewater business class, defining overall strategy and execution.
- Supervise technical personnel, manage multidisciplinary teams, and oversee daily operations and production.
- Plan and design wastewater and hydraulic elements, including wastewater treatment facilities, collection and interceptor sewers, pumping systems, and system master plans.
- Prepare and review planning‑level and design‑level project documents, studies, preliminary and final designs, contract and bid documents, and participate in construction phases.
- Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and other disciplines to deliver integrated solutions and capture business development opportunities.
- Recruit, select, train, develop, and manage technical staff.
- Develop multidisciplinary teams and supervise engineers and junior staff (2–6 people).
- Take responsibility for operations of the production section, including utilization, morale, quality control, and marketing support.
- Implement, monitor, and support company policy.
- Lead project services through planning, design, and construction to meet client expectations, including project management.
- Coordinate area technical competencies and improve practices across the business class.
- Collaborate with operations, marketing, and delivery staff to drive technical and marketing initiatives.
- Develop and lead technical and marketing initiatives, support the development of technical experts, and conduct quality assurance and control reviews.
- Participate in professional discipline groups, project teams, and activities to continually improve standards and best practices.
- Engage in marketing planning, proposals, and interviews.
- Contribute to business class strategic planning, budgeting, and implementation.
- Drive area initiatives and collaborate regionally and nationally with other wastewater business class leads and experts.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Civil or Environmental Engineering, Hydraulics, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
- Michigan Registered Professional Engineer License (PE).
- Proven client and business development success in Michigan.
- Experience in conceptual, preliminary, and final design of wastewater collection, conveyance, and treatment infrastructure.
- Experience with process and hydraulic design and design software.
- Knowledge of Michigan water quality regulations and the Total Maximum Daily Load programs.
- Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering, or closely related field.
- 10 years of experience.
- Committed to quality, improvement, and HDR values.
- Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience.
- Experienced in development and management of diverse teams.
- Works cooperatively with other area business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers.
