In this role, you will work collaboratively with various design engineering execution teams across the US and abroad, perform all aspects of mechanical system design engineering and analysis for assigned systems, and acquire knowledge of Black & Veight and industry standards to implement them in project development. You will prepare moderately complex engineering deliverables, conduct research, and develop project design recommendations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and apply knowledge of design guides, standards, systems, engineering codes, and B&V policies; provide technical guidance to others.
- Execute tasks independently under the B&V quality program; ensure team adherence and support continuous improvement and change efforts.
- Deliver complex engineering work for large or multiple projects, including research, calculations, equipment/material selection, data management, and manage budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Apply advanced engineering methods to solve complex problems; delegate tasks, review work, and develop junior staff; may lead production teams, coordinate multi‑discipline efforts, or serve as engineer in charge.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on moderately complex projects.
- Identify client needs and drivers, and communicate them to teams to develop solutions; support business development and client engagement activities.
- Serve as a technical specialist in a defined area; provide guidance, mentor staff, and apply advanced concepts to complex challenges.
- Support performance management, mentoring, and career development; identify and develop successors.
- Assist with resource planning and manage small, single‑discipline teams where appropriate.
- Experience in instrument and/or service air systems.
- Experience with demineralized (DM) water supply and make‑up systems.
- Experience with service and potable water supply systems.
- Experience with natural, hydrogen, and nitrogen gas supply systems.
- Experience with closed‑cycle cooling water systems.
- Experience with high‑pressure / intermediate‑pressure / low / auxiliary steam systems.
- Experience with feedwater and condensate systems.
- Experience with CO₂ supply systems.
- Experience with calculations including pipe sizing, pipe thickness, pump sizing, control valve sizing, heat exchanger sizing, atmospheric tank sizing, etc.
- Experience with P&t.
- Experience with air, gas, water & steam systems typical of design and engineering work.
A bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program or equivalent professional experience, with a minimum of five years of related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements, including background checks, drug screening, and motor vehicle records. Hold an active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects where applicable.

Work Environment and Schedule- This position requires working in a typical office environment, with prolonged periods of sitting and computer use; the professional should maintain focus and attention to detail. The role may also involve physical tasks during site visits, including crouching, grasping, and standing/walking for extended periods.
