Opportunity

As a Senior Analyst in Transactions Energy Markets, you will support technical due diligence and market analysis engagements for renewable energy, conventional generation, oil & gas, transmission, water, and new energy projects such as hydrogen, ammonia, carbon capture, and renewable fuels. You will work with a multidisciplinary team, collecting and analyzing data, developing technical assessment reports, conducting site visits, maintaining client contacts, and progressively taking on project management responsibilities.

This role reports to the transaction solution team within Black & Veatch Infrastructure Advisory and will contribute to multiple concurrent projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transfer knowledge, capabilities, and skills to improve others’ understanding and proficiency.
  • Enhance working relationships with team members and client management.
  • Contribute to quality review on own engagement.
  • Ensure client expectations are met within the scope of the engagement.
  • Develop knowledge bases, redefine tools and techniques, and outline performance measures and goals.
  • Contribute to multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Translate analyses into written reports and presentations.
Industry Knowledge Capability
  • Familiar with energy price data, LMP, transmission congestion data, and analytics tools such as Velocity Suite.
  • Solid working knowledge of conventional generation, oil & gas, transmission, water, and renewable technologies (solar PV, wind, battery storage).
  • Experience with power system production costing simulation models.
  • Proficiency in market research and leading key modeling updates in line with ISO and utility plans.
  • Anticipate and resolve technical problems with occasional assistance.
  • Apply best practices in relevant industries.
Management Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred engineering or technical degree; finance, economics, or MBA considered with relevant experience.
  • General knowledge of transaction engagement and energy market analysis.
  • Technical or industry knowledge, including power generation experience.
  • Working knowledge of conventional generation, oil & gas, transmission, water, and renewable technologies.
  • Knowledge of consulting processes.
  • Human relations skills, collaboration, and teamwork.
  • Ability to operate multiple software packages; advanced PC literacy.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant work experience.
  • 2+ years in a business/consulting environment.
  • Must complete pre-employment onboarding requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree + 2–4 years experience or Master’s degree with 2–4+ years in a business/consulting environment.
  • Must complete pre-employment onboarding requirements.
Certifications

Certifications related to area of expertise preferred.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

Hybrid in BV office 3 days per week; travel up to 25%.
