Starting Hourly Rate: $18.68
Work Schedule:
Up to 29 hours per week Duration:
This is a Seasonal position and can work for no more than 6-9 months
Nature of Work:
This position is within the City of Ann Arbor's Engineering Department which oversees the Civil Engineering design, construction, and close-out of planned public improvements within the city. The improvement projects will be related to the installation of water main, storm, sanitary, sidewalks, roads, and pavement markings.
The temporary employee will be working with multiple Project Managers within the Engineering Department who primarily oversee utility, road, and sidewalk projects.
Anticipated tasks for this season include assisting with data entry, public communication, project coordination, plan review, submittal review, design and construction meeting agenda preparation and minutes, permit applications, MDOT project preparation, construction progress payments, invoice approval, work order processing, field data collection, and field review.
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or post graduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Technology, Surveying or related field
- Positions assigned primarily to the field will be required to have a valid drive
- Valid driver's license, as they are required to drive to the numerous local job sites daily
- Ability to work in a team and take instruction
- Ability and willingness to perform construction inspection in all weather conditions
- Must be able to effectively document and communicate technical information to both a technical and non-technical audience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products as well as general computer skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Good organizational skills
