Controller opportunity to join a tight-knit team at a large vertically integrated and employee oriented ag company in the Central Valley, California. Highly visible role reporting directly to the CFO. Manage all accounting operations across multiple entities.

• Optimize system use to ensure timely preparation of financial statements and tax returns
• Manage all accounting operations including A/R, Credit and Collections, Payroll, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Fixed Assets, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition to ensure accuracy
• Develop department requirements and establish budget for Accounting Department
• Hire, train and maintain skilled accounting staff
• Assess current accounting operations and internal control systems and make recommendations for improvement and implement new processes
• Prepare financial analyses of operations including variance explanation and make recommendation to ensure the achievement of business goals/target
• Ensure month end close and year end close is completed in accordance with timelines, including completion of monthly journal entries, account analysis and account reconciliations
• Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
• Coordinate year-end financial audit
• Plans for future purchases, utilization management, and cost allocation
• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
• Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

• Proven working experience as an Accounting Manager or Controller in a manufacturing environment
• Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to optimize systems
• 10+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
• Thorough knowledge of GAAP
• Ability to work as a member of a team and build relationships at all levels of the organization
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
• Expertise in ERP systems in a manufacturing environment
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar field from accredited university
• CPA, MBA, or other higher certification/education is a plus
