Education

• Possession of a bachelor’s degree in any major.
• Preferred: bachelor’s degree in business administration, criminal justice, criminology, law enforcement, police administration, security and loss prevention, or a related field.

Experience

• Regulation Agent 9: no specific type or amount required.
• Regulation Agent 10: one year of professional experience equivalent to a Regulation Agent 9.
• Regulation Agent 11: two years of professional experience equivalent to a Regulation Agent 10.

Alternate Education and Experience

• Regulation Agent 9 to 12: high school completion and at least two years of full‑time active‑duty experience at or above the E-6 level may substitute for the education requirement.
• Two years of investigator or detective experience in a law enforcement, US Armed Services, or private agency may substitute for the education and experience at the entry level; three years for the intermediate level; four years for the experienced level; five years for the advanced level.

• Perform investigations of fraud, waste, or abuse by recipients, non‑Medicaid providers, and vendors of all MDHHS administered public assistance programs.
• Provide program improvement recommendations based on investigative outcomes.
• When working remotely, provide a secure work location, high‑speed internet (at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload), suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.

• Successful completion of a background investigation and criminal records check is required.
• AI software is prohibited in the selection process.
• Selected candidates must work within Michigan even if remote or hybrid.
