Emergency Management Specialist

** ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
** Advises and assists first responders, government agencies, private agencies, educational institutions and volunteer groups with specific phases of emergency management programs by outlining specific roles and activities.

Provides support for established emergency management committees, including the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) and Local Planning Team (LPT).Performs related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
** Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Public One (1) year of experience developing emergency plans, designing and facilitating public safety training and exercises and participating in emergency response and recovery operations in an emergency management agency at the local, county, state or federal level
** Preferred

Education and Experience
** Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Public Administration or a related field

Three (3) years of experience developing emergency plans, designing and facilitating public safety training and exercises and participating in emergency response and recovery operations in an emergency management agency at the local, county, state or federal level

Possession of the Professional Emergency Manager (PEM) designation through the Michigan State Police Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division within two (2) years of hire Possession of the Professional Emergency Manager (PEM) designation through the Michigan State Police Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division at time of hire
