POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Pre-Professional (Pre-Med or Pre-PA) Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for providing patient support and communication and facilitating an exceptional patient experience to build and reinforce satisfaction, trust, and drive organizational loyalty. Accountable for welcoming and preparing the patient for their appointment, the Medical Assistant informs patients of relevant and required information for their visit and provides clear communication around the services they are scheduled to receive.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Clinical Support & Patient Care
    • Prepare exam rooms, supplies, and equipment before patient arrival to ensure a smooth visit.
    • Greet and room patients, ensuring they feel comfortable and informed about their visit.
    • Complete initial patient intake, including vitals (height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, and other age-appropriate metrics) to support comprehensive assessments.
    • Perform point-of-care testing and specimen collection, including swabs for strep, COVID, flu, RSV, and other diagnostics as ordered.
    • Assist with breathing treatments and minor in-office procedures, providing hands‑on experience in patient care.
    • Shadow and assist providers during examinations and treatments, gaining direct exposure to clinical decision‑making and patient interactions.
    • Provide patient education on treatments, medications, and follow-up care as instructed by the provider.
    • Ensure exam rooms and equipment are cleaned, sanitized, and restocked after each patient visit.
  • Wellness Visit Coordination & Documentation
    • Collaborate with the care team to prepare for daily huddles focused on Well Baby and Well Child visits, identifying patient needs and anticipatory guidance topics.
    • Complete and manage documentation for health appraisals, school and sports physicals, and other required medical forms.
    • Assist in identifying and closing quality gaps in care, proactively addressing any concerns and escalating larger issues to leadership.
  • Technology & Workflow Efficiency
    • Develop proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and other clinic technologies, gaining valuable experience in digital healthcare systems.
    • Document patient interactions and treatment plans accurately, ensuring compliance with medical record-keeping standards.
    • Conduct quality controls and equipment checks to maintain compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Professional Growth & Hands-On Experience
    • Gain direct patient care experience in a fast-paced, team-oriented clinical setting, strengthening medical knowledge and communication skills.
    • Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and PAs, observing clinical workflows, diagnoses, and treatment plans to enhance medical understanding.
    • Participate in team discussions and case reviews, offering exposure to clinical reasoning and healthcare decision-making.
    • Take part in special projects, cross‑coverage duties, and professional development opportunities to broaden healthcare experience.
  • Clinic Maintenance & Professionalism
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and well‑stocked clinical environment, ensuring treatment rooms and equipment are properly sanitized and ready for patient use.
    • Serve as a positive representative of the clinic, embodying the organization’s mission, vision, and values in all patient and team interactions.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
  • Bachelor’s Degree required with relevant experience allowing candidate to apply to a clinical graduate program.
  • Stated goal to apply to graduate school in a clinical profession.
  • Current BLS certification for healthcare providers preferred; required within 90 days of employment.
  • Experience in primary care, family practice, internal medicine, urgent care or ER preferred.
  • Proficient in operating a desktop (Windows-based computer system), other software applications and other office-based equipment as required to perform essential job functions.
  • Basic medical terminology competency.
  • Demonstrate dependability, initiative, ability to prioritize, work as an effective team member, and accept direction.
