The Ross IT Department provides the Michigan Ross community with a comprehensive suite of technologies, web-based business solutions, and support to help our instructional, research, administrative, and service missions. Additionally, the admissions operations team supports the school's degree admissions processes and vendor relationships. Many core IT services are organized centrally.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Application Services, the Business Systems Analyst Senior works closely with Ross staff, Ross IT and subject matter experts on software integration and configuration projects focused primarily on CRM (customer relationship management) applications. The Business Systems Analyst Senior provides strategic analysis and technological expertise to identify current and emerging business issues and create high impact business intelligence solutions using Salesforce and data from other Ross platforms.

This role implements solutions for system improvements while ensuring seamless integration with existing systems. This role will also be responsible for developing standard and custom reporting, and coordinating with project and end user governance on configuration of key systems. The role will deliver excellent customer service and to interact in a highly effective manner with other team members, users and management.

This hybrid position is based in Ann Arbor, MI, with an expectation of three days per week on-site. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain that authorization throughout employment.

  • Participate in evaluating current and new system solutions and make strategic technical recommendations for system enhancements and extensions with the Project Manager and Salesforce Lead Administrator.
  • Analyze the impact of policy and process decisions on current and proposed processes.
  • Collect and analyze strategic business requirements and develop strategies to address needs
  • Work with Ross units to develop detailed project plans, milestones, business & functional requirements for project implementation, including use cases and user stories.
  • Leads problem analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution for system-wide issues.
  • Guide and train other business analysts and developers in Ross IT in how to use Salesforce processes and data to achieve business needs for the school.
  • Assist Ross unit staff in effectively implementing Salesforce for their business needs.
  • Serve as a technical liaison/consultant to U-M ITS, Ross IT/Salesforce Governance Committee, and external vendors in designing, implementing and maintaining products used by Salesforce for the school.
  • Support the University-wide vision of a CRM Enterprise Solution by developing partnerships across campus for knowledge exchange and coordinated efforts.

Reporting (20%)

  • Develop and run custom queries to obtain specialized data to better manage day to day processes and in response to requests.
  • Develop methods to enable staff to independently obtain real-time, formatted reports using technology tools and products (e.g., Tableau, Salesforce Reports, Business Intelligence, M-Reports, data warehouse products).
  • Work closely with Ross functional staff and Marketing and Communications to define models that incorporate data relevant to their work processes and strategic goals.
  • Provide ongoing strategic consulting and expertise in Salesforce data analysis, communications and reporting.

Training/CRM Support (15%)

  • Ensure end-user adoption through developing and delivering ongoing training.
  • Implement and manage internal communication channels to encourage user communication.

Programming, Skill Building (25%)

  • Manage, troubleshoot and develop new scripting processes to automate data entry, reduce duplicate Salesforce records, and increase the availability of useful data.
