Assistant Operations Manager Lead Mover

Overview

Pink Zebra Moving of Ann Arbor is hiring an Assistant Operations Manager / Lead Mover to help lead daily moving operations, support crews in the field, and ensure an exceptional customer experience.

This is a working leadership role, not a desk-only position. The right candidate will spend most of their time on moving jobs leading crews, driving trucks, and working alongside team members, while also supporting scheduling, customer communication, and day-to-day operations.

As the business grows, this role has a clear path to increased responsibility and advancement into higher-level management.

• $20–$24/hour based on experience
• Customer tips on moving jobs
• 10–15 hours/week in office/operations duties
• Additional hours available on moving jobs (up to 20–25 total weekly hours)
• Typical schedule:
  
  Monday–Thursday + occasional Saturday mornings
• On-call availability for job support as needed

• Lead moving crews on residential and commercial jobs
• Drive trucks and assist with physical moving work
• Support daily scheduling and operational coordination
• Communicate with customers before, during, and after moves
• Assist with on-site estimates and job walkthroughs when needed
• Help ensure trucks, equipment, and supplies are prepared and organized
• Step in to solve problems and keep jobs running smoothly
• Maintain high standards for customer service and team performance
• Support a positive, professional team culture

• Someone who leads by example and is not afraid of physical work
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to stay calm and solve problems in a fast-paced environment
• Dependable, responsible, and self-motivated
• Comfortable switching between field work and operational tasks
• Willingness to grow into a larger leadership role over time

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs with or without reasonable accommodation
• Prior moving, labor, logistics, or team leadership experience preferred
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Reliable and punctual with strong work ethic

• Has moving or crew leadership experience and wants more responsibility
• Enjoys hands-on work and being active during the day
• Has supervised small teams or wants to move into supervision
• Wants long-term growth into operations or branch management
• Takes pride in customer service and leading by example
