We're partnering with a privately owned Design/Build General Contractor that has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality commercial construction projects throughout Southeast Michigan. Since launching its construction division, the company has experienced steady, sustainable growth and is now approaching $40 million in annual revenue.
With an active development arm and a diverse portfolio spanning commercial, industrial, manufacturing, retail, office, and municipal projects, the business has positioned itself for continued expansion.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the President, this role is about much more than overseeing projects.
The Project Executive will help strengthen the operational foundation of the business while supporting its next phase of growth. You'll provide leadership across multiple project teams, develop operational consistency, mentor Project Managers and Superintendents, and help establish the systems and processes needed to scale the company effectively.
You'll work closely with ownership on strategic planning, staffing, client relationships, and operational improvements, becoming a trusted advisor within the organization. Your input will influence not only how projects are delivered but how the business continues to evolve over the coming years.
Responsibilities
- Provide executive oversight for multiple projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring successful delivery of safety, schedule, quality, and financial objectives.
- Lead and support Project Managers, Project Engineers, and field teams while fostering accountability, collaboration, and professional development.
- Partner with the President to improve operational processes, project execution strategies, and organizational structure.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and key industry partners.
- Support preconstruction efforts by reviewing budgets, schedules, logistics, risk, and project approach.
- Monitor project financial performance, identify potential risks, and implement proactive solutions to protect profitability.
- Establish best practices and operational standards that create consistency across the organization.
- Assist with recruiting, mentoring, and developing future operations leaders as the company continues to grow.
- Collaborate with business development and executive leadership to support repeat business and long-term client relationships.
- Serve as a senior leader within the company, helping guide strategic decisions and future growth initiatives.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive commercial construction experience, including leadership of multiple project teams.
- Previous experience as a Senior Project Manager, Operations Manager, Project Executive, or similar leadership role.
- Strong understanding of Design/Build project delivery and commercial construction operations.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships while successfully delivering complex projects.
- Experience overseeing projects ranging from approximately $2 million to $20 million.
- Excellent leadership, communication, financial management, and organizational skills.
- A collaborative, team-first leadership style with a passion for mentoring and developing people.
- Competitive base salary: $145,000–$160,000+, depending on experience
- Yearly bonus, based on personal and company performance, circa 10%
