Multifunction Services Senior Supervisor
The Multifunction Services Senior Supervisor provides direct supervision and advanced operational leadership within Environmental Services (EVS). This position supervises 20+ employees and serves as a lead resource for managers and Associate and Intermediate supervisors. The Senior Supervisor is responsible for daily operations, staff performance, payroll and timekeeping review, quality monitoring, service recovery, regulatory readiness, project coordination, and process improvement.
This role serves as a mentor to Associate and Intermediate Supervisors within the department, supports managers with operational priorities, assists with auditing payroll and timekeeping processes, and leads assigned department projects. During peak operational periods, the Senior Supervisor commands the EVS board by prioritizing service needs, coordinating resources, monitoring workflow and turnaround times, and escalating barriers as needed. This position promotes staff accountability, leadership development, continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, service excellence, and a safe, professional work environment across EVS operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide direct supervision and advanced operational oversight for a team of 20+ EVS employees, including responsibility for performance, productivity, attendance, quality, safety, professionalism, and customer service
- Coordinate staffing, work assignments, shift coverage, workflow, room turnaround priorities, discharge activity, urgent requests, and routine cleaning needs to support timely and efficient service delivery
- Command the EVS board during peak operational periods by prioritizing service needs, allocating resources, monitoring workflow and turnaround times, communicating updates, working with the EVS dispatchers, and escalating barriers as appropriate
- Serve as a lead operational resource for managers, Associate Supervisors, and Intermediate Supervisors, providing guidance and escalation support across assigned areas, shifts, or functions
- Mentor Associate and Intermediate Supervisors in leadership practices, operational decision-making, staff accountability, performance management, documentation, service recovery, payroll processes, and appropriate escalation
- Communicate operational priorities, department expectations, staffing changes, quality and safety concerns, process changes, and leadership direction to frontline employees and supervisory staff
- Participate in recruitment, interviewing, selection, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, corrective action, investigations, and employee relations processes in partnership with management and Human Resources
- Perform payroll and timekeeping responsibilities and assist with auditing records completed by Intermediate Supervisors, including timesheets, attendance, overtime, scheduling, discrepancies, and related documentation, to support accuracy, consistency, and timely completion
- Maintain accurate and confidential records related to payroll, attendance, performance, coaching, corrective action, training, inspections, audits, service concerns, projects, and other supervisory activities
- Conduct operational rounds and complete or review inspections, audits, and observations to assess cleanliness, staff performance, workflow, customer needs, service quality, safety, supply and equipment needs, and regulatory compliance
- Analyze quality, safety, service, workflow, performance, and compliance trends; identify root causes, implement corrective or follow-up actions, monitor results, and escalate significant concerns
- Ensure cleaning and disinfection practices meet department standards, Infection Prevention requirements, Joint Commission expectations, safety guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements; reinforce proper PPE, hand hygiene, isolation, chemical safety, equipment safety, and waste-handling practices
- Lead service recovery efforts by investigating concerns, resolving routine and moderately complex issues, coordinating follow-up, and escalating sensitive or significant matters to appropriate leadership
- Lead assigned department projects and process improvement initiatives by developing action plans, coordinating stakeholders and resources, tracking progress, communicating updates, and supporting successful implementation
- Support special cleaning requests, department projects, emergency response, surge situations, and other duties as assigned
Required qualifications include:
- At least one of the following:
Bachelor's degree and 4 years of supervisory experience in Environmental Services, education, healthcare, hospitality, or another related field; 8 years of supervisory experience in Environmental Services, education, healthcare, hospitality, or another related field; 5 years of demonstrated success as an Environmental Services supervisor within the organization - Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, including frequent…
