OnStaff USA is recruiting a Building & Machine Maintenance Technician for a long-standing custom metal fabrication facility in the Allegan area. This shop supports a wide range of fabricated steel components and assemblies
, operating a mix of laser cutting, forming, welding, and machining equipment in a fast-paced, made-to-order environment.
This is a temp-to-hire role for a hands-on maintenance professional who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and keeping both the plant and production equipment running safely and efficiently.
What You’ll Be Working OnThis role supports both production machinery and facility infrastructure in a fabrication-focused operation.
Equipment & Production Support- Preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fabrication equipment including:
- Laser cutting systems
- Presses and forming equipment
- Saws, welders, and CNC machinery
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues
- Assist with equipment installations, relocations, and upgrades as production needs change
- Maintain HVAC, electrical, lighting, plumbing, air compressors, and general building systems
- Perform routine inspections to identify potential failures or safety concerns
- Coordinate with outside contractors when specialized services are required
- Document maintenance activities, work orders, and parts usage
- Follow all safety policies and OSHA requirements
- Maintain a clean, organized maintenance and shop environment
- Support continuous improvement and uptime initiatives
- 3+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing or metal fabrication preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience maintaining industrial production equipment
- Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Basic welding or fabrication skills are a plus
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work at heights, and perform physical tasks as needed
- Strong problem-solving ability and comfort working independently
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications preferred

- Occasional off-hours work may be needed to support production uptime
- Day shift
- 8-hour shifts
