General Production Associate
This role supports the manufacturing of specialty chemicals, including zeolite, alumina, and rare earth chemicals, by accurately mixing materials and preparing them for packaging and shipment to industries such as automotive, oil and gas, and renewable energy. You will work on-site in a production environment, following detailed instructions to ensure each batch meets quality and safety standards while maintaining a clean and efficient work area.
Responsibilities- Read and follow written work orders and production schedules that clearly state chemical portions and requirements for each batch.
- Accurately measure and weigh ingredients using scales and graduated containers to meet specified formulations.
- Lift and handle buckets containing 30–50 pounds of material, scooping and pouring them into mixing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Operate, monitor, and oversee equipment used in each stage of the mixing and production process to ensure consistent and safe operation.
- Inspect equipment and work areas regularly and report any issues or irregularities to maintain safe and efficient operations.
- Clean and maintain work areas, tools, and equipment to uphold safety, housekeeping, and quality standards.
- Follow all safety rules, policies, procedures, and operating instructions when handling chemicals and equipment.
- Collaborate with team members and support other production or warehouse tasks as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall production and warehouse operations.
- At least 1 year of production experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or similar environment.
- Ability to lift and carry 30–50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policies and procedure manuals, operating instructions, and written work orders.
- Comfort working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to chemical smells.
- Basic understanding of safe material handling practices.
- Reliability in following schedules and work orders for production tasks.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in general production or warehouse operations.
- Background in mixing, machine operation, landscaping, or outdoor work that demonstrates physical stamina and comfort with manual labor.
- Familiarity with operating basic production or mixing equipment.
- Attention to detail when measuring and weighing materials.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a smaller production team.

WorkEnvironment
This position is based 100% in a manufacturing environment, with work performed in both production and warehouse areas. Employees work around specialty chemicals, and while there is a noticeable chemical smell in the manufacturing and warehouse areas, there is no stated risk with exposure when following established procedures. Team members must remain aware of the products they handle and adhere to all safety and operating guidelines.
The role operates on two primary shifts: 1st shift from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 2nd shift from 2:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The work is physically demanding and involves frequent lifting, scooping, and pouring of materials, as well as operating and cleaning production equipment in an industrial setting.
This is a Contract position based out of Ann Arbor, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
