Job Description:

The Social Media and Communications Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring that the school community is well informed of all FGR activities and in promoting the school’s brand throughout the broader community via social media and targeted communication to partner parishes and schools. As a Social Media Specialist, the successful candidate will be the creator behind taking our social media content to the next level.

The qualified candidate will have a passion for Catholic education, be detail oriented, great with people, have excellent communication skills, and an abundance of initiative.

This role is full-time, year-round based  position reports directly to the Director of Marketing and Communications.

Responsibilities:

Work collaboratively with the Director of Marketing and Communications and other members of the FGR faculty and staff to promote the mission of Father Gabriel Richard High School in:

Social Media
  • Creating and scheduling engaging content for social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Linked In, and X (Twitter);
  • Planning and maintaining the school's social media content calendar;
  • Monitoring social media accounts by responding to comments, messages, and customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner;
  • Capturing photos and videos on-site for use in social media posts, stories, and promotional campaigns;
  • Creating graphics, short-form videos, and other digital content using design tools;
  • Staying informed about social media trends, viral content, and platform updates;
  • Monitoring the Catholic high school landscape and identifying opportunities to improve engagement and brand awareness;
  • Tracking social media performance and preparing monthly reports using platform analytics;
  • Supporting promotions, events, and product launches; and
  • Ensuring all content reflects the school's brand identity and message.
Communications
  • Preparing mail and electronic school communications as assigned by the Director of Marketing and Communications, working with all departments at FGR (Academics, Admissions, Athletics, Counseling, Advancement, etc.);
  • Preparing and sending weekly FGR Weekly e-newsletter via Mail Chimp;
  • Providing support and journalistic coverage of key school events (requires occasional nights and weekends);
  • Writing news articles for FGR’s website and the annual print Legacies magazine and bimonthly e-newsletters.
Marketing
  • Sending press releases to local media outlets and parishes, and developing relationships with media members to feature FGR activities in target communities;
  • Assisting in the creation of marketing materials for admissions, advancement, and other school events;
  • Assisting in organizing and maintaining photo and material archives;
  • Assisting in design, ordering, and maintaining inventory of branded merchandise; and
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing and Communications.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, literature, communications, journalism, social media, graphic design or similar field;
  • Minimum of two years’ professional experience in communications, marketing, public relations, social media, education, development, or other related field;
