Job Description & How to Apply Below

Join Ludus as a Content Writer

You’ll turn products, customer experiences, and ideas into writing people actually want to read.

Ludus builds software for the performing arts. More than 5,000 theatres, schools, independent venues, dance studios, music programs, and other performing arts organizations across all 50 states use Ludus to sell tickets, market events, raise money, and manage volunteers. Ludus has been named one of the fastest-growing software companies in the country four years running.

Ludus is looking for a Content Writer to join our creative team. We need a strong writer who can take an idea, find what makes it interesting, and turn it into clear, human writing that sounds like Ludus. That could be a customer story, a product launch, an ad, an email, a website page, or a video script.

You’ll work with Design, Video, Product Marketing, and the broader Marketing team. Ludus already has an established voice. Your job isn’t to reinvent it. It’s to learn it, write within it, and help us use it to speak naturally to different audiences across the performing arts.

This is a new position, so the role will continue to develop around the needs of the team and the strengths you bring to it.

Join us in our mission to bring people together through shared experiences by building digital tools for performing arts organizations.

Things you should know before applying

At Ludus, our mission is to bring people together through shared experiences.

We get shit done, move fast, and are constantly learning and adapting. We embrace low process and high trust to navigate change and figure out what works.

We don’t think success is permanent. The moment you stop learning and improving, someone else catches up. For us, success is a sum of small efforts, including trial and error, so we move at an unrelenting weekly pace.

Growth means discomfort. We push into new ideas and take chances so we can keep building tools performing arts organizations actually want.

If you prefer a hand‑holding environment where everything is black and white, that’s not us. If you move without being pushed and can thrive in controlled chaos, Ludus is the place for you.

You’ll write for real people doing creative work, with the opportunity to shape how Ludus tells customer stories, talks about its products, and communicates across a growing number of audiences.

What You’ll Be Doing Customer Stories & Customer Marketing
  • Turn customer experiences into case studies, spotlights, testimonials, and emails that hold someone's attention past the first line.
  • Work from customer conversations and, at times, interview customers directly to find the story behind their experience.
  • Take complicated or ordinary source material and find the human angle that makes it worth telling.
Product & Campaign Writing
  • Write for product launches, campaigns, ads, web pages, email, sales materials, and other marketing needs.
  • Turn product information into clear language focused on what actually matters to the customer.
  • Help develop campaign concepts, headlines, and messaging alongside Design, Video, and Product Marketing.
Brand & Marketing Content
  • Write and edit newsletters, website content, mini‑blogs, video scripts, conference materials, social content, and other day‑to‑day marketing.
  • Edit and rewrite work from others when needed to make it clearer, stronger, and consistent with the Ludus voice.
  • Maintain a consistent Ludus voice across very different formats without making everything sound the same.
Audience & Market Research
  • Learn how different performing arts segments talk about their work, what they care about, and what gets their attention.
  • Adapt messaging for community theatres, schools, colleges, dance studios, independent venues, and other audiences rather than simply changing a few words.
  • Pay attention to competitors and industry language so Ludus doesn’t fall into the same jargon and clichés everyone else is using.
Traits we’re looking for Strong Writer
  • Writes clear, interesting copy with personality and knows how to simplify an idea without dumbing it down.
  • Recognizes jargon, clichés, and tired marketing language that makes brands sound interchangeable.
