CLINICAL CARE COORDINATOR (Ambulatory Care – OB/GYN Clinic)

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Von Voigtlander Women’s Clinic provides comprehensive care for patients with normal and high‑risk pregnancies and a broad range of gynecologic services. The team includes physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, medical assistants, social workers, dietitians, and a multifunctional administrative/clerical team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide culturally sensitive, age‑specific nursing care within a team‑based model to patients seen at the Von Voigtlander OBGYN and MFM clinics.
  • Deliver culturally sensitive, age‑specific care for primary, adult, pediatric, and OB/GYN patient populations.
  • Perform phone and referral triage, assessment, screening, clinical advice, and nurse visits (in‑person, virtual, or phone). Provide hands‑on procedures and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Accurately document nursing care in the electronic health record.
  • Utilize internal and external resources appropriately.
  • Provide functional supervision to assistive personnel and collaborate with colleagues, other disciplines, and community services to promote continuity of care.
  • Clinical duties include:
    • Assess and evaluate needs of OBGYN and Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) patients using clinical knowledge, reasoning, and critical thinking.
    • Collaborate with physicians, APs, and ancillary services to provide high‑quality care.
    • Support out‑patient care through InBasket messages and telephone triage.
    • Coordinate medication management, order placement per protocol, relaying test results, completing OB intakes and post‑op calls, providing patient/family education, managing emergency situations, and other clinical tasks.
    • Document care and patient progress through detailed records.
    • Provide direct patient care within the ambulatory setting, including assessment, education, counseling, and support based on the nursing process and scope of practice.
    • Coordinate and manage care of gynecologic, obstetrical, and MFM patients in collaboration with the health‑care team, coordinating appointments, monitoring tests and labs, educating patients, and evaluating effectiveness of teaching.
    • Assist physicians with clinical activities and medical procedures as needed.
    • Support clinical and translational research and attend continuing education, conferences, and staff development programs.
    • Other nursing duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, problem‑solving skills, and the ability to set priorities.
  • Exhibit customer service, interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to build respectful relationships.
  • Maintain accountability, dependability, and a good attendance record with punctuality.
  • Adapt to changing needs and priorities based on unit, department, and institutional goals.
  • Provide patient and family education on chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes, asthma, coronary artery disease).
  • Proficient in typing and electronic health record documentation.
  • Use assessment skills, protocols, and evidence‑based interventions to manage complex clinical issues.
  • Adapt to different populations—including pediatrics, OB/GYN, and adult medicine—based on patient demands.
Required Qualifications
  • Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Michigan.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, or an associate degree or diploma in nursing combined with a Master’s degree or higher in nursing.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of recent (within the last seven (7) years) experience in labor and delivery or within an OB/GYN clinic.
  • Minimum of six (6) months RN experience providing direct care to gynecology patients and assisting with specialty procedures (e.g., voiding trials, PVR assessments, Botox/Bulkamid injections, or sedation services).
  • BLS certification.
  • A complete and accurate resume is required for consideration.
Desired Qualifications
  • Three (3) years of ambulatory care experience within OB/GYN.
  • One (1) year of Maternal Fetal Medicine ambulatory care experience.
  • Greater than five (5) years of OB/GYN experience.
  • One (1) year of additional specialty gynecologic ambulatory care experience (e.g., vulvar, pediatric gynecology, transgender patients, minimally invasive surgery,…
