Advanced Practice Professional (NP) Pediatric Surgery Clinic
Michigan Medicine is recruiting an Advanced Practice Professional (APP) to provide outpatient and peri‑operative surgical care with an emphasis on feeding and nutrition. The APP will work as part of a multidisciplinary team including physicians, RN, MA, dietitians, and residents to care for pediatric surgical patients.
Responsibilities- Perform pre‑operative consultations and take patient histories.
- Conduct physical examinations and review laboratory and radiology results.
- Educate patients and families about procedures, peri‑operative care, and wound management.
- Provide outpatient care via phone, MiChart, and clinic visits for scheduled procedures.
- Perform clinic procedures including suction rectal biopsies, tube exchanges, dilations, washouts, and minor surgeries such as circumcisions and NG tube placement.
- Manage medical aspects of pilonidal disease with surgical referral when necessary.
- Assist in longitudinal care for subspecialty and Rapid Access Nutrition Clinics, coordinating with Pediatric Pulmonary, Endocrinology, and Dietetics teams.
- Collaborate with pediatric subspecialists and maintain detailed documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Registered Nurse licensure in Michigan and Nurse Practitioner certification.
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Certification by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
- State of Michigan pediatric specialty certification (Primary Care or Acute Care).
- At least 1 year of clinical APP experience in pediatric ambulatory care.
- Current DEA registration.
- AHA BLS certification.
- Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program (ARC‑PA or predecessor).
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- State of Michigan PA license and controlled substance license.
- At least 1 year of clinical APP experience in pediatric ambulatory care.
- Current DEA registration.
- AHA BLS certification.
- Experience with an electronic medical record system.
- Experience in ambulatory care with a pediatric population.
- At least 1 year of APP experience in pediatric surgical services or pediatric GI.
- Excellent communication skills demonstrated by reviews or references.
- Clinical knowledge and analytical ability necessary for medical/surgical interventions.
